A bit of fit with Fitbit

November 4th, 2009 · No Comments

A new fitness tracking device is available called the Fitbit. According to their website this device “accurately tracks your calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled and sleep quality. The Fitbit contains a 3D motion sensor like the one found in the Nintendo Wii. The Fitbit tracks your motion in three dimensions and converts this into useful information about your daily activities.” The four levels of activity are sedentary, lightly active, fairly active and very active. You can shuffle through four screens that show calories burned, distance in miles, number of steps and a graphic of a flower that grows and recedes based on your activity level. The Fitbit sets goals based on your gender, age, weight and height - factors which help set your base metabolic rate. You can track your goals via the website and adjust your fitness accordingly.
